Passenger Allegedly Kidnaps Uber Driver From Texas

A Louisiana man is in custody after he allegedly kidnapped and robbed an Uber driver Saturday.
According to reports the incident took place when a Tarrant County Uber driver went to pick up the passenger Richard Darby,28 from a Bedford address. The driver says once his passenger was inside the vehicle he asked him to drive to Louisiana because his family had been killed.
Once they arrived in Shreveport the victim says Darby told him to drive back to Ft.Worth and while driving says the suspect put a knife to his kneck and ordered him to get out of the vehicle. The victim says he then slowed the car down and jumped out.
Authorities later found the vehicle abandoned on interstate 20 near Longview with no signs of the suspect. Darby did however leave his wallet in the car and police were able to use his id to help locate him.
Darby is now in custody at Gregg County Jail and being held for aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnap and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
