Parents Charged After Infant Was Fatally Shot During Fight Over Gun

After fighting over a firearm that ended in the death of their infant daughter, a mother and father have been charged.

On April 12, the parents, ages 20 and 21, got into a fight over money and a gun. The father had taken the weapon that had belonged to the mother, and she wanted it back.

During this time, the father entered his vehicle with the gun in his waistband. While the mother was holding the infant in one arm, she reached inside of the car to get the gun with the other.

The dad kept his grip on the gun, and the two tussled for it until it went off. A bullet had traveled through the mother’s hand and had hit the infant girl. The baby was later declared deceased at a medical facility.

Although the father left the scene, the mother was apprehended after being released from the hospital.

On May 6, the father was arrested at a motel in San Antonio. He was charged with injury to a child resulting in serious bodily injury.

The mother has been charged with similar offenses.
