Paintball Splatter Assists Police In Arresting Mail Thief

A man from of Blue Island, Illinois, was arrested after being accused of stealing mail from mailboxes.

On Saturday night, Jake Klein, was waiting on the roof of his business, Jake’s Landscape Services. He had been up there in order to catch whoever had been stealing his mail.

He then saw a vehicle that looked similar to the one involved in other thefts of his. Afterwards, he threw a homemade paintball at the white Jeep.

Records show that authorities in Waukesha had already been investigating the thefts of the mail when they saw the white Jeep with paint all over it. They tried to pull the driver over, but he sped off.

Dash cam footage shows the man leading officers on a high speed chase for over 8 miles, getting up to speeds of 123 mph.

A pit manuever had to be utilized in order to get the driver to stop. The recording showed the side of the Jeep covered in pink paint.

Not only were four pieces of mail belonging to Jake’s Landscape Services found in the Jeep, but four pieces of mail belonging to Jones Logistics was found, as well.

Now, 22-year-old Michael White has been charged with one felony count of fleeing and eluding an officer causing damage to property and one misdemeanor count of mail theft.
