During a traffic stop, on Friday, in Fresno, County, the California Highway Patrol found over 150 pounds of cocaine and fentanyl-laced pills.
The discovery and seizure occurred on northbound Interstate 5 at Shields Ave.
Officials say that Carlos Lopez, 27, had been in a 2013 Toyota Camry when he was pulled over. It was reported that his vehicle was searched due to “several factors that led the officer to believe that the driver was engaged in criminal activity.”
When an officer looked through the vehicle, a truck tire was located in the trunk. Inside of it was 107 pounds of fentanyl-laced pills made to look like Oxycodone.
Authorities say that forty-five pounds of cocaine was also found in the trunk.
Lopez, from Seattle, was apprehended and taken to the Fresno County Jail. He has been charged with possession of cocaine and fentanyl for sale and transportation of cocaine and fenatanyl across noncontiguous counties.
