On February 16, the Dallas Police Department released a report about a $100,000 cash seizure that took place at Love Field Airport more than two months ago.
Records note that a 25-year-old woman was traveling with the cash. She wasn’t charged or detained with any offense.
K-9 officer Ballentine alerted authorities of the smell of drugs in a suitcase while sniffing transfer bags at Dallas Love Field.
Police say that because the bag was headed to Chicago, “a known source for the exportation of narcotics,” it was searched. The bag was also scheduled to be in the city for just a short time.
Inside the bag, two white shipping bags were found, containing the large amount of money. Police also smelled the scent of marijuana, but nothing else was located.
When the woman was found and located in the terminal, she described her luggage as a different color with a moveable lock. That was a different description than the bag the police had.
When asked if she had a huge amount of money or drugs in the bag, she said no. However, she later said that $20,000 and clothes were in the luggage.
Additionally, she told police that she was a dancer and she and her boyfriend sold real estate and had just sold a house.
Because of all those suspicious elements, officials believed that the money was from the sale and trafficking of illegal narcotics.
The money was seemingly taken to FBI Dallas, but it is unclear what was done with it.
Studies have proven that many US dollar bills have some type of illicit substance that has been found on them.
