Over $10 million worth of cocaine and methamphetamine was discovered hidden in a shipment of jalapeño paste in the San Diego vicinity.
Officials with the Otay Mesa Cargo Facility found a 28-year-old man driving a commercial tractor-trailer with a shipment of what he thought was jalapeño paste, stated U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
CBP officers ended up locating 349 suspicious packages inside of the paste. K-9 units also assisted with the operation.
Over 3,000 pounds of meth and more than 500 pounds of cocaine were discovered. This had an estimated street value of $10,430,000.
The driver was placed in the custody of Homeland Security Investigations for more processing.
