Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Revokes Membership Of Memphis Officers Involved In Tyre Nichols’ Fatal Attack
Three of the five officers who were apprehended and charged with second-degree murder for the fatal attack of Tyre Nichols were members of Omega Psi Phi. This is a national Black fraternity that began in 1911 at Howard University.
Although they didn’t release any names, the organization said through a statement that they had revoked the membership of three of the officers. Other sources have reported that the men are Tadarrius Bean, Emmitt Martin III, and Desmond Mills Jr.
“…On behalf of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.,…we extend our deepest condolences to the family of Tyre Nichols. We have since learned that three of the former Memphis police officers involved in the horrific incident were members of our organization. That is devastating! Effective immediately, the Fraternity has revoked the membership of the three former Memphis Police officers…,” said Ricky Lewis, the grand basileus of the national fraternity.
The national office added that “the brutality shown in the video not only violated our moral sensibilities but also transgressed our Fraternal and established Code of Conduct. We have the utmost confidence in the judicial process and fervently pray that the Nichols family will obtain justice.”
Well, they lost their black card too, that’s what they get for power-tripping behind that piece of tin, no good badge they hid behind.
