At the end of August, a major auto theft ring was discovered after a routine traffic stop took place in North Texas.

Detectives had seen a vehicle, with no license plate, hauling a trailer that was filled with engines. The vehicle was stopped, and five stolen engines were discovered. They were said to be worth close to $40,000.

The two people inside the vehicle were apprehended.

While investigating, the Tri County Auto Theft Task Force was able to find the shop where the engines had come from.

A search warrant was executed at that location, and parts and cars related to more than 40 stolen car reports throughout the metroplex were found. Detectives say that the parts and cars that were discovered were worth about $640,000.
