A woman returned to court on Tuesday, fighting to bring her 2-year-old son back home. The argument has been about the child’s medical treatment. When the mother left the hospital without following doctors’ advice, Child Protective Services got involved.

A judge decided that for now, Joslyn Sanders’s son won’t be placed back in her custody.

For about four hours, Sanders answered questions from her lawyer and from the State. The CPS advocacy hearing took place to determine custody of  2-year-old Josiah Sanders. Almost three months ago, he was taken from his mother’s care. The case is focusing on the child’s medical history. It is also reviewing several treatment plans suggested by his doctors. This is for things like, vitamin deficienciences, extensive weight loss, and a rash that was seen all over his body.

In December, Sanders took the child to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas and that led to several events and Sanders without custody of her son.

Sanders and her lawyers feel as though CPS acted negligently and made multiple false comments.

However, Sanders says that she will keep fighting to get her son back.

“I want to tell my son Josiah that I love him and miss him. Mommy did everything in her absolute power to bring him back home today, and I want him to know that,” Sanders stated after the hearing.

Not only did the judge deny Sanders’s son from being returned to her, he also criticized her. He said that Sanders was not a credible witness. He also said that the right thing for the child right now is for him to remain in the current custodial arrangements that the State has ordered.

The court did state that there may be services provided to Sanders to help her better take care of her son. Sanders said she’s willing to hear more about what the State will provide.

  1. What are the circumstances leading to the child deficiencies abd other things goung on the the child body? What instructions did the hospital give that the mother did not follow? Did she have help or the resources to carry out the instructions? What is her living and mental status? Did the state try to help them before traumatising them by breaking up a family? Why is tbe state so quick to take black children from their families as far back as dating to atrocities of slavery hereto current date creating such desrutue conditions that exist still today. When will they be held accountable for their part in the oppression of black people that is ongoing?
