New Study Shows Class Clowns Are Most Intelligent

1.1kviews

A new study looked at the connection between humor and intelligence in school-age children and found that kids with jokes have a higher intelligence.

A study was conducted where more than 200 children create captions for cartoons. Experts then rated the captions based on how relevant they were to the drawing and how funny they were. The children that had a higher general knowledge and higher verbal reasoning also understood language and its rules. This understanding made them able to create jokes that made sense and were funny.

The same isn’t necessarily true for adults, however. Researchers did not find a similarly strong connection between humor and grown-up intelligence.
