Netflix May Allow Password-Sharing For A Fee

1.1kviews

For a long time, many people have shared their Netflix passwords with family and friends.

On Wednesday, the company revealed that they will be conducting a test. They will allow main account holders to add users to their accounts that don’t reside with them. They will simply have to pay a fee.

The “Add An Extra Member” option will first be tested in Chile, Costa Rica, and Peru. Extra members will get their own login and password. Although there is a cost associated with this, it will still be cheaper than creating a whole new account.

The initiative will start in the next few weeks and will also permit users to switch profiles to a new account.

This is one of the most recent moves Netflix has taken to battle password-sharing. That practice is known to take away from the company’s subscription earnings.

Netflix is the most popular streaming service worldwide with over 220 million users.
