A G-League player with the Stockton Kings, Chance Comanche, and a 19-year-old woman, are facing murder charges. This is in connection to the death of a 23-year-old woman who vanished in Las Vegas.
The remains of Marayna Rodgers, a medical assistant from Washington state, were discovered in a desert location in Henderson, Nevada. She had last been seen in the Las Vegas vicinity.
On Friday, 27-year-old Comanche was taken into custody by the FBI in Sacramento, California. He is being held without bond. Additionally, Sakari Harnden, 19, was apprehended on Wednesday in Las Vegas on abduction charges and was held on $500,000 bail.
Authorities say that on December 5, Rodgers had been out with friends and had made plans to meet with Harnden. Harnden had brought Comanche, her boyfriend, along with her.
The Stockton Kings had been set to play the G League Ignite in close by Henderson that day.
On Dec. 7, Rodgers had been reported missing.
Authorities suspected foul play and had gotten evidence to apprehend Harnden and her boyfriend Comanche for their parts in the abduction and disappearance of Rodgers.
The Kings released Comanche, a 6-foot-10 center, after he was taken into custody. He is expected to appear in court on Tuesday as he waits to be extradited to Nevada.
Comanche played college basketball at Arizona and played in one NBA game with the Portland Trail Blazers on April 9.
