A Fort Worth resident, Kate Team’s luxury vehicle was stolen from the Dallas Fort Worth Airport. Kate is no stranger to traveling out of the DFW airport and does so often with her family.
“It’s just unfortunate, we’ve parked at the airport so many times,” Team said.
While away on their trip to North Carolina, she received an alert from OnStar, which is the vehicle’s navigation and location tracking system. OnStar notified her that the vehicle’s system had been disabled, Team explained.
Kate Team discovered once returning to the airport that her brand-new luxury SUV had been stolen.
“It’s my first new car ever,” said Team. “I was kind of like, ‘Okay? It’s just one of those surreal moments, like, what do we do now?”
Team reported her car stolen to authorities right away. Team told WFAA the officer who responded told her she was the fifth person that day to report their car being stolen. The news source, however, was unable to confirm that information with the Dallas Forth Worth Airport.
According to a spokesperson for the airport, they are investigating car thefts from this week but did not say how many.
DFW airport is increasing patrols in the area due to the thefts, according to a spokesperson.
“The safety and security of travelers and employees is our top priority. DFW Airport is continually assessing and enhancing crime reduction strategies, both seen and unseen, across our 28-square-mile property. We continue to ask visitors and employees to ‘see something, say something’ when encountering any suspicious activity,” an airport spokesperson said.
“There’s police there at the airport 24 hours, it’s just crazy that this happened,” Team said. “I’m hoping it stops.”
“There are worst things that happen,” said Team. “It just stinks, but we’ll probably keep parking at the airport. When you’re traveling with little kids, you have car seats, and it’s honestly nice to be able to get in your car and go home.”
Boo hoo someone stole my gWagon.
