Delisa Tucker, a 31-year-old mother-of-six from Chicago, was shot in the chest and killed on Wednesday morning.
Tucker was shot in the same location where her son, Kevin Tinker Jr., 14, was fatally shot three days prior. At the time of her killing, she was lighting candles at a memorial that was created for Kevin, close to their residence.
Authorities have not determined if the two shootings are related. Furthermore, no one has been apprehended.
Tucker’s body was discovered on the ground after a ShotSpotter alerted that gunfire had occurred close to 12:30 a.m. She was transported to a medical facility where she died from her injuries.
When Tucker’s son, Kevin, was shot, he had been standing outside of a home that had been shot at earlier that day. Officials haven’t disclosed if Kevin was the intended target. He was said to be a “quiet boy” who wasn’t connected to gang-related behaviors.
The location where the mother and son were killed has experienced at least 26 fatal shootings so far in 2021.
