25-year-old Aaliyah Jack, a mother from Louisiana, is said to have admitted to causing the death of her 4-year-old son. She then left his remains in a lake at a highway welcome center and left her 1-year-old in a ditch that was close by.

Per Fox 32 Chicago, on July 8, authorities discovered the 4-year-old’s body in the lake, along I-10, close to the Louisiana-Texas border.

Detectives found out that the 4-year-old had last been observed with his mother and his younger brother. Officials had first believed that the younger child was dead, as well.

Emergency crews were planning to look around the area where Legend Jack, the 4-year-old, was located, when a truck driver observed the 1-year-old crawling in a ditch next to the freeway.

The small child had been outside in stormy weather as Tropical Storm Beryl had gone through the area, but he still seemed to be in good condition.

Aaliyah Jack was taken into custody on July 9 in Meridian, Mississippi, over 350 miles from where the 4-year-old and 1-year-old were discovered.

After Jack was extradited back to Louisiana on July 20, she was questioned by reporters, while entering the jail.

When asked about what occurred with her children on that day, Jack said that she had “did that to them.” She added that she did kill her son and stated that it was possibly because she had been on drugs.

Jack is facing charges of second-degree murder, cruelty to a juvenile, and two counts of failure to report a missing child. She is still in custody on a $9.1 million bond.
