Elaina Jennings and her boyfriend, Daniel Giacchina, have been apprehended and are facing charges of first-degree murder and child abuse. This comes as Jennings’s 6-year-old son died from blunt force trauma to the abdomen and from a perforated bowel.

Authorities were summoned to a residence, on July 30, in Oakland County, Michigan, in response to a child who was not breathing.

When first responders arrived to the scene, they discovered multiple physical wounds on 6-year-old Giovanni “Chulo” Jennings. He was transported to a medical facility prior to being taken to the Detroit Medical Center and passing away from his wounds the following day.

Authorities spent many hours looking over the evidence, such as cell phone records, pictures, and items that were confiscated. They then found that Giovanni had been abused extensively by his mother and her boyfriend.

In one instance, it was shown that the defendants had shot the child with a BB gun. Giovanni had also been enclosed in a corner of a bedroom and had been stuck to the wall with a staple gun.

In addition to that, another child in the residence disclosed that Giacchina punched the boy several times in the stomach three days before him passing away.

Giovanni is said to have started to vomit and to get more ill, leading to him becoming unconscious on July 30.

Officials say that the mother made up a story to authorities and stated that the child had been in the care of his biological father. However, there was no proof that the boy’s father was linked to the offenses.

An investigation is continuing.
