Karvel Stevens has been identified as the 6-year-old boy who was killed earlier this week at a residence, in Kansas City.
On Tuesday, Karvel was found deceased after officers were called regarding a disturbance.
On Wednesday, Tasha Haefs, the boy’s 35-year-old mother, was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
Around 11:45 p.m., on Tuesday, police were contacted by a woman who stated that “the devil was trying to attack her.”
When authorities arrived, they observed blood on the sidewalk all the way up to the front door.
When police peered inside of the home, they saw a head that had been decapitated. They busted through the door, and found Haefs, in the kicthen, with her hands and feet bloodied. In a separate room, the child’s head and body were found.
They also discovered a deceased dog in another room. Its head had been severed, too.
Haefs was taken into custody at the Jackson County Detention Center. She confessed to the killing of her child in a bathtub and decapitating him.
Relatives say that drugs and mental health issues caused the young boy’s death.
