Last week, Cheryl Ann Asiq, a 38-year-old mother in Pasco County, Florida, was arrested after giving her 14-year-old son methamphetamine.
Authorities say that Asiq is being charged with three counts of aggravated child abuse and three counts of contributing to the deliquency of a minor.
Asiq is said to have provided her son with the meth on three various occasions. This occurred between February 10-12.
An affidavit noted that the son told police that his mom “provided the methamphetamine. She held the foil paper that contained the drugs. She heated the foil with a lighter to cook the drug as the victim used a plastic straw to inhale the vapors from the foil.”
On February 12, a relative of the son’s believed that the teen was hallucinating during a phone call. That person then contacted 911.
When the relative questioned Asiq, the mother stated that she had given the teen a Xanax pill.
Emergency crews arrived on scene, and the 14-year-old was transported to a hospital. Records say that he told police that his mother called him at the medical facility. She then instructed him to “lie to anyone who asked about her involvement with providing the drugs.”
Eventually, Asiq confessed to giving the drugs to her son because she thought it would assist in his relaxation.
However, she says it did the opposite.
Asiq remains in custody.
