On Friday, a 42-year-old woman was taken into custody in Cherokee County, Texas, after transporting her children in the cargo component of a U-Haul truck.

Per Yahoo, the woman is accused of driving the truck as her 3-year-old, 4-year-old, and 17-year-old children were in the passenger area. Authorities noted that no one had been in a seat belt or any other restraint devices.

When officers looked in the cargo area of the truck, more people were found. This included an 11-year-old girl, 13-year-old boy, 15-year-old girl, and a 22-year-old male who is disabled.

All of the occupants were children of the driver.

The children were seen sweating excessively as the temperature inside the cargo portion of the U-Haul was 98.6°.

The mother was apprehended for driving without a license. Charges of injury to a child and injury to disabled person are pending as an investigation is ongoing.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Child Protective Services have now teamed up to place the children in proper care.
