A mother and a brother, in Gary, Indiana, have been charged after a 6 year-old boy was found dead in an alley.
Jannie Perry, the boy’s 38-year-old mother, faces first-degree murder, concealing a homicide, and obstructing justice charges in the death of Damari Perry.
Jeremiah Perry, the victim’s 20-year-old brother, has been charged with aggravated battery on a child, concealing a homicide, and obstructing justice.
A minor sibling of the victim has been charged, too, but no details were given because of his age.
On January 5, the boy’s mother and brother reported him missing. It was first said that the boy went with his 16 year-old sister to a party in Skokie, Illinois. The sister fell asleep after drinking and noticed the boy and her driver were not there.
Authorities later determined that the story wasn’t true. After finding evidence, authorities began to focus on the child’s mother and siblings and their home in North Chicago.
On Saturday morning, the boy was found in an alley close to an abandoned home.
A manner of death hasn’t been determined. An autopsy will be performed on Monday.
