Mother Accidentally Shoots 13 Year Old Son

A Phoenix woman was arrested after she accidentally shot her 13 year old son while trying to break up a fight.
According to reports officers responded to a call on the 2200 block of East Taylor Street and when they arrived they found a 13 year old boy suffering from a gunshot wound.
The mother Tonya Monroe,41 told authorities that an unwanted guest and Michael Wilson,59 were outside fighting so she went inside the home to grab a gun.
Monroe’s 13 year old son was also outside at the time and while trying to break up the fight the gun accidentally went off and struck her son.
The son was taken to a nearby hospital in stable but critical condition.
Monroe was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, disorderly conduct involving a weapon and being a prohibited possessor.
Wilson was also arrested and charged with possession of drugs and weapons.
The unwanted guest was uncooperative with police.
This investigation is still ongoing.
