Mother Accidentally Kills 13-Month-Old Daughter, After Running Her Over, While Trying To Park Car

Last Thursday morning, Jafria Thornburg called authorities from Cottonwood, Arizona, to report that she had run over her 13-month-old daughter, Cyra.  She stated that she had been parked on the gravel on the side of her house and moving her vehicle to another spot.

As she was maneuvering the vehicle out of a tight space, the child had been placed outside of the car, within the car seat, in a spot the mother felt was safe.

“While repositioning the vehicle, the front tire caught the canopy of the car seat, causing it to fall backward which led to the infant suffering critical injuries,” the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office noted.

Although first responders attempted to perform life-saving measures on the child, she was declared deceased at Verde Valley Medical Center.

It isn’t known if the mother will be charged, but an investigation is ongoing.
