476views

American artist Missy Elliott will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as the first ever female rapper to do so.

The rapper has been praised for her contribution to the industry and for being a trailblazer for other female artists.

“She paved new paths for women in the music industry and society at large through her behind-the-scenes mastery and unapologetically ownership of her body, her sexual desires, and her Blackness in her music.”

This is the first time that Elliott has qualified to receive this honor as an artist has to have had released an album 25 years prior to being eligible to be inducted into the Hall of Rock & Roll.

Kate Bush, Don Cornelius, Rage Against the Machine, George Michael, and more are set to be inducted with Elliott, as well.
