The nude body of high school senior Kaitlin Hernandez was discovered under a bridge in a drainage ditch on the 7600 block of Oak Dell Drive on Tuesday evening. She was discovered less than a half-mile from her residence in San Antonio, days after being reported missing.

Now, the 17-year-old’s relatives are requesting assistance in finding answers, and Crime Stoppers has provided a reward for information.

Authorities say that Hernandez had gone for a walk with a guy friend from the community, whom Hernandez’s relatives saw a few hours later without her. The friend is said to have told the family that he didn’t know where Hernandez was.

Hernandez’s phone was found in a ditch by someone else who saw it light up. After looking further, authorities located a jacket and Hernandez’s body. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that she had been strangled.

Police in San Antonio questioned the friend with whom Hernandez was with. Although they had first requested the public’s assistance in locating someone of interest, police have now said that they have found the person, and he is working with them.

“We’re barely holding up. We’re taking life right now one minute at a time,” one of Rodriguez’s relatives stated.

“I used to live in this area, so I know what you see, you don’t say. But, I’m begging you. Please. Please, somebody speak up,”she stated.

On Thursday, Crime Stoppers announced it will provide a reward of up to $5,000 for details resulting in a felony arrest.

No one has been apprehended, and an investigation is continuing.
