Missing 76-Year-Old Dallas Woman Found Driving 10 Hours Away In Mexico, Has No Clue How She Got There
76-year-old Enola Harris, of Dallas, suffers from memory loss, and has now been joined back with her family. This comes after she was discovered driving in Coahuila, a northern Mexico state. However, she has no clue as to how she got there.
On Saturday morning, Harris was found after police stopped her as she was driving into oncoming traffic, 10 hours away in the town of Muzquiz.
Camera footage shows Harris speaking with an officer who spoke English as she attempted to call her relatives.
Harris had said that on Friday she had left her residence to go to the grocery store because all of her food had spoiled. This was due to the energy company turning off her power while she had been in Louisiana, she said.
Harris had also told officials that her sister had been driving, too, but she didn’t know where she went.
Eventually, Harris was placed in a hotel until her family could be reached.
After unsuccessful attempts to call Harris’s family members through saved numbers in her cell phone, officials finally used her personal Facebook page to share the video encounter.
The Facebook post was shared more than 100 times and eventually reached her family.
On Sunday, Harris was driven to Houston and reunited with a relative.
“If she really has amnesia, it can be dangerous to herself…,” said the mayor of the town. “But, in the end, I feel glad that we took care of her for the three days we had her in Mexico.”
The Dallas Police Department stated that they didn’t receive a missing person report and aren’t investigating the matter.
Officials say that Harris, indeed, crossed the border, and crossed some checkpoints in Mexico prior to ending up in the small town.
