On Friday, authorities announced that a 12-year-old Houston girl was with a 27-year-old man when she was discovered uninjured. Her disappearance had triggered an Amber Alert.
E’minie Hughes was found in Columbus, Texas, about an hour and a half a way from Houston, down I-10.
Authorities in Columbus say that they attempted to apprehend Houston man Sirterryon Preston at about 12:40 p.m., on Friday, in relation to having a missing child with him. They added that Preston attempted to flee but was caught and taken into custody.
He is being held in the Colorado County Detention Center for the evading arrest offense; however, more charges are expected.
Detectives say that the 12-year-old was transported to a Texas Children’s Hospital to be evaluated.
When E’minie went missing last week, neighbors’ camera caught when she exactly disappeared. That was when a truck arrived to her residence, and she got inside.
HPD has confirmed that there was a worry that the child had been trafficked.
