A kind-hearted kid is being praised all over the internet.
Last week, Romello Early purchased a pair of new shoes for his friend, Melvin Anderson. This came after Melvin was being picked on by students at Buffalo Creek Academy, in Buffalo, New York.
Bryant Brown, Jr., the school’s dean of culture, captured the moment and uploaded it to his Facebook page.
“My student Mello told me he was tired of other students making fun of Melvin for his shoes. Mello used his pocket money and bought Melvin some shoes,” he wrote.
Brown stated that he learned that Melvin was being messed with by other students subsequent to getting his shoes dirty.
“His shoes weren’t up to par. Melvin likes to run in the mud and get his shoes dirty,” Brown added.
After Brown’s Facebook post generated thousands of likes, shares, and comments, Romello discussed his thoughtful gesture.
“I saved up my allowance, and so I asked my mom to take me to the shoe store to get Melvin some shoes. The next day, I came and gave them to him,” he stated.
“I’m really appreciative of what he did for me. I’m doing chores at home so I can earn some money to try and pay him back for what…what he did for me,” Melvin said.
Brown said that Romello’s actions really touched him.
“I’m glad it touched the world. It’s still affecting me today,” he expressed.
He added that because of the incident, the school has started an anti-bullying campaign to fundraise money to assist other students like Melvin.
Great job young man! Good deed!
