A 14 year old Michigan teen has been arrested and charged with the murder of his 10 year old sister.
The incident happened on February 23 around 8pm when officers were called out to a shooting at a resident in Lakefield Township on the Upper Peninsula.
Upon arrival officers found a 10 year old girl deceased at the scene.
During investigation officers learned the victims 10 year old brother, who was also at the residence, was responsible for the shooting.
He was arrested at the scene and charged with murder.
Officers say the parents were away at the time of the shooting and have not released a motive.
Police spokesman Lt. Mark Giannunzio said in a statement, “The allegations in the charge support that this wasn’t accidental.”
The suspect has since been arraigned on one count of open murder in the 92nd District Court and is being held at the Sault Tribal Juvenile Detention facility.
