Six people died and at least nine others were wounded as a mass shooting took place at a bank in Louisville, Kentucky.
Authorities say that at about 8:30 a.m., they were called to Old National Bank on Main Street.
They then observed the active shooter, 25-year-old Connor Sturgeon, inside of the bank. He was said to have worked for the bank and had a rifle in his possession.
Authorities added that Sturgeon shot at them, and then they shot back, “stopping the threat.”
63-year-old Tommy Elliot, 64-year-old Jim Tutt, 40-year-old Josh Barrick, 45-year-old Juliana Farmer, and 57-year-old Deanna Eckert were identified as the deceased bank workers.
In total, nine people were sent to hospitals, including three law enforcement officials. One officer, Nickolas Wilt, sustained a gunshot wound to the head and is in critical condition as he undergoes brain surgery.
Authorities aren’t clear of a motive as of yet, but the shooter was recently informed that he was being fired from the bank.
Sturgeon is also said to have livestreamed the shooting on social media. Additionally, he made a chilling post before the shooting, stating, “I could burn this whole place down.”
Sturgeon died after exchanging gunfire with officers.
