Man With Suspended License Shocks Judge After Attending Court Zoom Hearing While Driving

A man with a suspended driver’s license joined a court Zoom call as he was driving a vehicle, shocking a district judge in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

A recording depicts the defendant, Corey Harris, calling into the court hearing from the driver’s seat, as Judge Cedric Simpson was in disbelief.

“Mr. Harris, are you driving?” Simpson questioned the defendant.

“Actually, I’m pulling into my doctor’s office,” Harris responded.

The lawyer representing Harris requested that the judge consider an adjournment for “possibly up to 4 weeks” if the court would permit it.

“Okay, so maybe I don’t understand something. This is a driving while license suspended case, and he was just driving. He didn’t have a license,” Simpson responded.

“That is correct, your honor,” the public defender retorted.

Simpson then revoked Harris’s bond, and he was ordered to turn himself into the Washington County Jail by 6 p.m. that night.
