David Gene Elliott Jr., an inmate convicted of killing his girlfriend’s daughter, was discovered dead at the Oregon Department of Corrections.

Elliott Jr. had been imprisoned at Two Rivers Correctional Institution and passed away at the location.

On October 4, 2016, he was placed in DOC custody, in Marion County, when he was 36-year-old. Elliott had been found guilty of killing his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter and wounding her 5-year-old daughter. Records show that the girl was discovered face down in a bathtub. She had been vomiting for several days after Elliott had hit her in the stomach. Her death was said to be a homicide, because of  “cerebral anoxia due to drowning after blunt force abdominal trauma.”

The DOC is now investigating the in-custody death and will only release information to the public upon request.
