A man was arrested Friday morning for the murder of a Mississippi police officer.
According to reports, 31-year-old Dante Bender killed Officer Kennis Croom Thursday and his body was found on 51st Avenue in Meridian. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A woman named Brittany Jones, who was said to be Bender’s fiancé, was also found deceased inside a home on the 2400 block of 51st Avenue.
Bender was last seen driving a 2004 black Nissan Armada with a tag that reads “IMANI.”
He was wearing a purple sweatshirt and purple sweatpants.
Around 10:30 am Friday morning officers in Ackerman, Ms arrested Bender and took him into custody.
At his court hearing Bender denied killing his fiancé and officer Croom. He has since been extradited back to Meridian.
Bender faces two capital murder charges.
