Man Uses Child As Shield During Shootout With Ft. Worth Police

A man is dead after a shootout with Ft. Worth police Thursday afternoon.
According to Ft. Worth police officers responded to a call on the 2900 block of Broadmoor where a woman told police she was being held hostage along with some children.
When officers arrived they saw an unidentified man using a child as a shield on the third floor and confronted him before he opened fire at officers hitting their shields.
Officers saw the suspect using the child and backed away as SWAT surrounded the building.
SWAT was able to make way to the third floor and force their way inside and get a clear shot at the suspect.
The suspect was shot and transported to a nearby hospital where he died.
Hostages and officers were unharmed.
This shooting is under investigation and it is unclear of the relationship between the hostages and suspect.
