A Daytona Beach man was shot in the leg earlier this month after shooting at Daytona Beach police.
According to reports officers were patrolling a neighborhood in the 1600 block of Piccadilly Drive around 12:30am on October 4.
They came across a garage with the door open.
While investigating they heard a single gunshot nearby.
When they went to checkout the gunshot they noticed several more rounds being fired at them.
Officers returned fire shooting the suspect, Joseph Calvin Jaynes II, who then ran into a wooded area.
After a few hours Jaynes called 911 saying he was shot in the leg and needed help.
Authorities ordered Jaynes to drop his weapon.
After seven hours he finally surrendered to police.
He was taken to a local hospital and treated for his injuries.
Once released he was transported to Volusia County Jail on 10 felony counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
The officers have been placed on paid administrative leave.
