Haltom City, Texas, police say that a man was shot at, on Friday night, as he attempted to buy jeans from someone that he met online.
Around 11:30 p.m., the Dallas resident went to a Haltom City apartment complex in the 5600 block of Coventry Park Drive. He wanted to buy a pair of costly jeans that he found for sale on OfferUp.
Although the victim was reluctant to go to the location because it was so late, he did so, anyway.
When the victim saw the pants were not as they were advertised, he decided to leave without buying them. When the victim was driving away, the suspect shot at the victim’s car.
Authorities say that the bullet hit the victim, but it lost speed and got stuck in his jacket. He only suffered a bruise.
Police haven’t stated whether anyone has been apprehended in the matter.
The department also expressed the dangers of purchasing and selling through online ads. To be safe, they say never share confidential details, chat through apps, look at profiles, and study the item’s details. They add that people should always pick a safe, busy, well-lit spot to meet up.
