Man Shot And Killed By Security Guard In Oakcliff Apartment Complex

A man is dead after being fatally shot by a security guard in an Oakcliff apartment complex Tuesday night.
Officers responded to a shooting call on the 5300 block of Monmouth Lane and when they arrived they found Jamal Patterson,26 deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.
The security guard Richard Farris,62 told police that he told Patterson he could not work on his car in the parking lot so he became upset and started punching Farris multiple times before going inside the apartment and grabbing a handgun.
When he returned he pointed the gun at Farris who in return opened fire multiple times striking Patterson and killing him.
Authorities took Farris down for questioning and after giving a statement he was released.
No charges have been filed at this time.
The case will be presented to a Dallas County grand jury to decide if charges will be filed.
