A man in Harris County, Texas, has been apprehended and charged with a felony after he was accused of shooting into his neighbor’s home on Tuesday. This was allegedly because their dog had been barking for an extended amount of time.

Russell Day, 56, was intoxicated when he approached his neighbor’s house on Cedar Grove Ct., authorities say. He then banged on their door and shot through the door and windows at about 1 a.m.

When deputies arrived to the scene, they observed Day leaving the location in a vehicle. When the car was pulled over, Day was apprehended and had a great amount of ammunition and guns, including an AR-15-style rifle, inside.

Day is facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was placed in the Harris County Jail.

Mike Gercia, the neighbor, stated that 46 shots were fired into his home. He said that he retrieved his gun and took cover as his wife contacted authorities.

A Ring doorbell recording captured Day’s son telling him that he wasn’t shooting at the right house.

“Dad, you’re shooting the wrong house,” the son yelled.

Tesha Koltys stated that the bullets were intended for her residence.

“I feel horrible for my neighbor, Mike and his family. Russell Day waited ’til1 in the morning when my dogs were not outside–they were in the house asleep…it’s just mind-blowing.”
