Trevor Raekwon Seward, 25, was convicted of murdering a federal employee in the course of their duties and other crimes in the shooting of 64-year-old Irene Pressley that took place in September 2019, according to federal prosecutors. He was sentenced to life in prison.
Instead of delivering a package containing marijuana the South Carolina mail carrier left a note in the mailbox that required in-person pickup of a package.
When Seward found the note instead of the 2-pound package of marijuana from California he was waiting for he confronted Pressley demanding his package.
Irene Pressley refused to give him the package, reported court documents.
Seward then retrieved a semi-automatic rifle, waited for Pressley to come down a street, and fired about 20 times into the back of her mail truck, according to prosecutors.
Pressley was hit by several bullets.
Seward then drove the mail truck into a ditch and searched it trying to find his marijuana and any other valuables, then left Pressley’s body in her truck, said prosecutors.
They later located the marijuana package on the street where Pressley was killed, said court records.
Jerome Terrell Davis, 31, helped Seward look for the package, plead guilty to robbery and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute marijuana, according to prosecutors. He was sentenced to 25 years.
