A military enthusiast who collects military memorabilia slipped and fell on a 57mm shell in the UK.

The man stated that a World War II mortar shell went up his rear end.

The 57mm mortar round was utilized by the Royal Artillery in the Second World War as anti-tank rounds. Eventually, British tanks in North Africa started to use them.

When the man was transported to a medical facility, a bomb squad was called in.

“As with any incident involving ammunition, the relevant safety protocols were followed to ensure that there was no risk to patients, staff, or visitors at any time,” a hospital spokesperson said.

The patient has left the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
