Man Previously Charged With Sex Abuse Fatally Shoots Woman, Her Two Children, & Then Himself

Two adults and two children died and another child was placed in the hospital after a murder-suicide took place, earlier this month, in Las Vegas.

On Dec. 11, at around 11:30 a.m., in the 7500 block of Oso Blanca Rd, authorities received a call for medical help. A man had stopped by his brother’s residence and had discovered multiple people suffering from gunshot injuries. Officers then found four people, 2 adults and two children, that had been fatally shot. A fifth person, another child, had experienced life-threatening injuries and was transported to a medical facility.

While investigating, detectives learned that an adult male had shot a woman, three children, and then himself. The deceased have been identified as 34-year-old Schinara Patterson, 14-year-old Ki’Ziah Cone, and 6-year-old Zi’Myra Patterson. Schinara and Ki’Ziah had been shot several times in the head.

42-year-old Marvin Ray Patterson died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Documents show that a marriage license was issued for Schinara and Marvin Ray Patterson on May 5, 2019. However, it was noted that the children belonged to Schinara.

Records also show that Marvin Patterson had been charged with five counts of lewdness with a child under the age of 14, two counts of sexual assault with a minor under 16 years of age, one count of lewdness with a child under the age of 16, and one count of first-degree kidnapping of minor. Those supposed incidents occurred between 201 and 2022.
