Authorities in Kentucky say that human remains and several skulls were discovered inside of a man’s residence.
Documents show that nearly 40 skulls, and femurs, hip bones, and a Harvard Medical School bag were found in the home of James Nott, 39, last Tuesday.
The skulls had been positioned around furniture. One of them contained a head scarf and another was in the bed where Nott slept.
Also discovered in the home were multiple weapons like an AK-47 rifle, .38 special, Charter Arms, a revolver, ammunition, grenades, and plates that go along with body armor.
Several law enforcement agencies had initially executed the search warrant in relation to guns and trafficked human remains.
When officers requested information about who else was inside of his home, Nott said only his “dead friends.”
In 2011, Nott was apprehended on gun charges and was connected to a human trafficking ring across the country. In this instance, several individuals were said to have bought and sold human remains. This was also linked to Harvard Medical School and a mortuary located in Arkansas. This led to Nott becoming a convicted felon.
After chatting with a man, Jeremy Pauley, who was being investigated for his part in the trafficking ring, authorities began to look at Nott.
Pauley told detectives about some individuals who had been involved in the matter, including Cedric Lodge who is the morgue manager for Harvard Medical School. Lodge had been charged in June.
Nott went by the name “William Burke,” on Facebook in order to purchase and sale human bones. While chatting with Pauley, Nott sent pictures and videos of the remains. Nott had posted the most recent remains for sale on a Facebook page in June 2023.
Nott has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. If he is found guilty, he could receive up to 10 years in prison.
