Man Found Not Guilty After Spending 45 Years In Prison For Wife’s Murder

After being convicted of the 1974 murder of his wife, Isaiah Andrews spent the last 45 years in prison.

Now, a jury has decided that he isn’t responsible. The 83 year-old has been permitted to be released.

“I’ve become free,” Andrews stated subsequent to his retrial hearing.

The ruling comes after the Cincinnati Law organization assisted him. Their goal is to “free every innocent person in Ohio who has been found guilty of a crime.”

When lawyers with the project found out that detectives had another person of interest that they didn’t disclose to the first jury, a retrial was allowed. The other person suspected, Willie Watts, died in 2011. Evidence had linked him to the murder, but he was released.

Regina, Andrews’ wife, suffered 11 stab wounds at the Colonial House Hotel. Her body was found, wrapped in blankets, in Forest Park.

The jury decided that there was no evidence connecting Andrews to the murder, and many things didn’t add up.
