Man Found Guilty Of Murdering His Girlfriend’s Parents And Leaving Their Bodies At Arboretum

Khari Sanford, 20, has been convicted in the fatal shooting of his girlfriend’s parents and leaving their deceased bodies at the school’s arboretum.

Sanford was found guilty of two counts of first-degree intentional homicide. This was for the killings of Dr. Beth Potter, 52 and Robin Carre, 47, in March 2020.

The problems with the couple, their daughter Miriam, and Sanford started at the beginning of the pandemic. That was because Potter wanted them to adhere to Coronavirus guidelines set forth in his residence. Sanford also believed that his girlfriend’s parents didn’t respect him. After many issues arose, the parents decided to move their daughter and Sanford to an Airbnb.

“They were living in fear of COVID-19. They should have been living in fear of Khari Sanford,” stated Dane County Assistant District Attorney Tim Verhoff.

Crystal Vera, Sanfords’ court appointed attorney, denied that perception. She added that no one thought Sanford was dangerous.

“Would parents let their daughter live with someone dangerous?” she questioned.

Prosecutors stated that Sanford kidnapped the parents at gunpoint from their home in Madison, Wisconsin. He then transported them to the UW Arboretum where he fatally shot them in the head.

Last year, Ali’jah Larrue, who accompanied Sanford when the couple was killed, pleaded guilty to felony murder.

Larrue said that he wasn’t aware that Sanford had planned on killing the couple and feared for his own safety.

Miriam Carre wasn’t charged with any crime and said that she didn’t know about the plan to kill her parents.

After Sanford was found guilty, he showed no emotion. A judge will determine if Sanford will ever be able to get extended supervision.
