Two Black and Indigenous teen sisters were shot and killed by a man who was hiding in their residence.

20-year-old Elijah Albert Croy has been charged with two counts of murder and attempted murder for the deaths of the two sisters and the attempted killing of their father on June 29.

Croy was apprehended, close two the location of the two murder victims, on Saturday.

“Croy admitted to me he had shot and killed both…using a Glock style handgun he had purchased in individual parts and then assembled into a working handgun himself. He stated he had done this after he had attempted to murder the girls’ father…who had discovered him inside of his daughter’s bedroom,” said a Klamath Falls, Oregon, police officer.

Documents show that Croy has been charged with the killings of 14-year-old Zion Qualls and her 19-year-old sister, Aleeka Qualls, at the residence in Klamath Falls.

Croy was also charged with the attempted murder of their father, Tashka Qualls, as Croy tried to shoot him, “but his handgun failed to fire after he pulled the trigger.”

Authorities are now trying to determine if Croy attempted to sexually assault the girls.

He was placed in the Klamath County Jail while an investigation continues.
