On November 5, William Kyle Carruth shot and killed his girlfriend’s ex-husband, Chad Read, 54, in Lubbock, Texas.
Read’s second wife, Jennifer, released a recording of the incident. In the viral video, Read is observed arguing with his ex-wife, Christina Read, outside of Carruth’s home.
“I’m supposed to have him at 3:15, but you’re playing games…telling me I have to pick him up at 6?” Read said.
Carruth then came from his house holding a gun. He screamed at Read to “leave” and called him a mother f***, as Read tried to snatch the gun away, pushing him back.
“You think I’m’ f*cking scared?” Read questioned.
Carruth then shot the gun at the ground and then fatally shot Read.
Carruth’s lawyer has said that his client acted in self-defense, citing the Castle Doctrine relating to Read trespassing on the property.
Jennifer Read is now pursuing custody of her step-children so that they won’t have to dwell in the same residence as their dad’s killer.
Carruth hasn’t been charged with the killing as of yet.
