A 48-year-old man has been taken into custody in Maryland, accused of murdering his 15-year-old stepson.
The Charles County Sheriff’s Office reported that they were notified of a shooting shortly after midnight on Wednesday at a home on Huntt Road in La Plata. Upon arrival, deputies found Darshan Eric Williams outside the residence where the incident occurred. After taking him into custody, authorities discovered the victim, identified as Michael Edward Clemons, inside the house, unconscious and not breathing.The teenager, who was Williams’ stepson, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators stated that Williams shot his stepson following an argument over the teenager’s failure to complete his chores.
Williams is facing charges that include second-degree murder, first-degree assault, child abuse resulting in death, and several other offenses, including the use of a firearm during a violent crime.
He is currently being held at the Charles County Detention Center without bail.
