A man was taken into custody after authorities say that he hit a pedestrian on Saturday night. He then traveled to a restaurant parking lot, in White Settlement, Texas, with the dead pedestrian in his passenger seat. This was following the body going through his front windshield.

Close to 11 p.m., an officer went to a Jack in the Box parking lot after receiving a call regarding a welfare check. They then discovered a Kia Forte that had front end, hood, and windshield damage.

The officer on scene also observed what seemed to be a dead person in the passenger seat.

The driver, who has been named as Nestor Joel Lujan Flores, was apprehended.

The victim, whose name hasn’t been released, was declared deceased once first responders arrived to the location.

Authorities say that Flores told them that he believed that he had struck an animal in Dallas and drove to the restaurant parking lot. Authorities say that he never contacted them.

Several agencies were called to determine if they had any details about the crash. However, none of them had information about a hit-and-run nor a pedestrian accident.

Utilizing flock cameras, that can identify vehicles based off the license plate, investigators were able to tell where the crash probably occurred. This was between Arlington and White Settlement, in the 1900 block of E. Mayfield, at New York Ave., just after 6 p.m.

Detectives believe that the pedestrian was thrown into the car prior to ending up in the passenger seat.

Additionally, authorities say that Flores drove into the restaurant parking lot at around 8-9 p.m., but no one contacted them until several hours later.

Flores has been jailed, but criminal charges are pending as the case is being reviewed by the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.
