A 23 year old Michigan man is in custody after beating his girlfriends 3 year old daughter to death.
Officers responded to a call regarding an unconscious child in the 1500 block of Grandville Ct. on December 18.
Upon arrival they found the victim, Aziya Matthews,3 unconscious inside the residence.
She was transported to Children’s Hospital in Detroit where she died on December 20.
During the investigation hospital staff told officers they found multiple broken ribs in different stages of healing, multiple round wounds on her legs and torso consistent with being burned by a lit cigarette, two black eyes, severe head trauma, and a collapsed lung on Aziya.
The mothers boyfriend, Troy Amerson,23 told police he was giving a haircut in the kitchen when he noticed Aziya unconscious.
Amerson was charged on Christmas Day with felony murder and first degree child abuse.
He is being held without bond.
