Man charged with killing woman with stolen forklift, taking off in victim’s car

Police say a Maryland man stole a forklift and ran over a woman, killing her, before fleeing in her vehicle.

According to authorities, at 12:40 a.m. on July 2, police responded to a burglary and theft in progress at a Lowe’s Home Improvement store.

The perpetrator, who has been identified as 20-year-old Bryce Caleb Timothy Brown broke into the Lowes, stole a forklift, and drove it through the gates in the back of the store. Brown left the store on the forklift and drove into a nearby Home Depot where he rammed into a parked car.

A woman who was asleep in the car got out and started running away but Brown followed her, hitting her with the forklift and then running her over.

He then stole the victim’s vehicle and took o from the scene. According to investigators Brown and the victim, did not know each other and Brown’s motive is unknown.

Officers responding to the initial burglary at Lowe’s searched the area and discovered the forklift in the Home Depot parking lot. They later located the victim, 73-year-old Gloristine Pinkney, underneath it, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an investigation, detectives were able to positively identify Brown as the suspect and he was arrested during the evening hours of July 2. The victim’s vehicle was recovered near the suspect’s house.

Brown is being held at the Charles County Detention Center and has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, assault, theft, and other related charges with no bond.
