23-year-old Gionni Sellers has been indicted by a grand jury on several charges. This is for killing his girlfriend’s 3-year-old son in Orange County, New York.
Sellers has been charged with second-degree murder.
District Attorney David Hoovler stated that Xavier Johnson, 3, had been taken care of by Sellers in May and June of 2022.
On June 2, authorities received a call at about 8 a.m. from a residence on Edward Diana Way. They discovered Johnson unconscious in the living room of the home.
The boy was transported to a medical facility where he was declared deceased.
Court documents note that prior to the day that Johnson died, the boy sustained blunt force trauma to the head and torso. This caused injuries to his brain and led to his death. Authorities say that Sellers was upset that the boy’s mother had befriended a former boyfriend on social media.
Additionally, while looking through his phone, evidence was found that Sellers had been searching the impact of child abuse and what to do if a toddler is hurt or not breathing.
Sellers could receive 25 years to life in prison if he is found guilty of second-degree murder.
“IF” he is found guilty.
